TheDepartmentofTransportation(DOT)isworkingthroughabacklogofroughly3,200grantawardsthatdidnothavesignedagreementstogowiththem,whichSecretarySeanDuffysaidwasinheritedfromwhenformerSecretaryPeteButtigiegoversawthedepartment.
“Sincecomingintooffice,myteamhasdiscoveredanunprecedentedbacklogofgrantsleftoverfromthepreviousadministration,”Duffyrevealedacoupleofweeksagoinastatement.
Mostrecently,oneofthesebackloggedgrantswastheWashingtonBridgeinRhodeIsland,whichhasbeenclosedsince2023onitswestboundsideuntilproperrepairsaremade,accordingtotheRhodeIslandstategovernment.
